Amp Futbol

Amp Futbol is a form of football designed for players who have undergone a unilateral amputation of a lower limb (field players) or an upper limb (goalkeepers). The section was introduced into the structure of Wisła Kraków SA on October 23, 2020, following the incorporation of the existing team Husaria Kraków, which had been active since 2013.

In Amp Futbol, the pitch measures 60x40 meters, and the match consists of two halves of 20 minutes each with a 15-minute break. Each team is composed of 6 field players and a goalkeeper, who defends a goal measuring 5x2 meters. Field players are allowed to use only one leg, and any play with the ball is considered a handball. The goalkeeper, meanwhile, can use only one hand.

Press Release

AMP Football Under the Wings of Wisła Kraków!

Contract Signing

October 23, 2020

Wisła Kraków is a club loyal to its principles, traditions, and constantly setting new goals. One of these goals is to promote football in increasingly broader circles, shape personalities, and provide experiences to local and national communities. Alongside its other teams, Wisła Kraków will now also be responsible for football excitement with its AMP Football players, who will don jerseys featuring the white star. The current representatives of Husaria Kraków will become part of the 13-time Polish champion, representing its colors both domestically and internationally.

The establishment of a new sports section within Wisła Kraków is another step in the development of the 114-year-old club. Following the creation of an e-sports team and the inclusion of blind football players, the club has decided to strengthen its foundations and focus on building even deeper connections within the growing Wisła community.

AMP Football is a sport that originated in the USA and has been practiced worldwide for over 30 years. It was started by Don Bennett, who, along with a group of disabled skiers, sought a way to maintain physical fitness outside the winter season.

This discipline arrived in Poland just a few years ago and has been experiencing rapid growth since then. In 2013, Kraków hosted the first official training session of Husaria Kraków—a team established under the Association of Disabled Athletes AMP Football Kraków.

"I am proud that Husaria Kraków, which has its roots under Wawel Hill, will continue its on-field battles under the banner of Wisła Kraków. Wisła, which is the heir to a multi-disciplinary tradition. We are delighted that athletes with ambition, who set new goals and pursue them with great passion, have joined our tricolor family. We know that representatives of the section have already made their presence felt on the AMP Football map of Poland and Europe, achieving successes that bring pride not only to the local community. However, we deeply believe that the white star on the players' chests will shine brightly, leading them to further triumphs. From now on, we will write the club’s history together!" said Dawid Błaszczykowski, President of Wisła Kraków SA.

The training sessions and tournaments the team participates in not only help maintain good physical condition but also serve as a form of social rehabilitation and integration both within the team and the surrounding community. The Kraków Association, a non-profit organization, has set itself the task of breaking stereotypes about people with disabilities and actively engaging this community.

By joining forces with Husaria Kraków, the White Star family expands to include some of the best AMP Football players in Poland. The proactive approach of the coaches and the entire team has led Husaria to win the Polish Championship three times— in 2015, 2016, and 2017. In 2018, the team achieved third place on the podium, and in 2019, they reached the runner-up position. Many players from the section are regularly called up to the national team, such as Przemysław Świercz, who serves as the captain of the White and Reds. Undoubtedly, one of the greatest successes of the Polish team was their trip to the World Cup in Mexico in 2014, where Mark Dragosz's team finished in 4th place.

The Husaria team, now Wisła Kraków AMP Football, will compete in the AMP Football Ekstraklasa, which also includes: TS Podbeskidzie Kuloodporni Bielsko-Biała, Legia Warszawa AMP Football, Warta Poznań AMP Football, and Widzew Łódź AMP Football. The competition takes the form of weekend tournaments, with matches played on a "round-robin" basis. In the current season, two tournaments have been held so far, with our team achieving five victories and three defeats. As a result, the Kraków team, with 15 points, is in second place in the table. Currently, the leader is Legia Warszawa.

The players have two more tournaments ahead of them, where they will wear jerseys with the white star on their chests. The first is scheduled for October 24-25 in Łódź, and the final matches will take place on November 28 and 29 in Poznań.

It is worth noting that 2021 will bring a significant AMP Football event to the capital of Lesser Poland, the European Championships. We hope that with the team joining the White Star, this discipline will gain new fans who will eagerly follow the on-field competition of players from different corners of the Old Continent.

Origin of the Wisła Kraków AMP Football Logo:

The white star with one arm cut off symbolizes playing with one limb. This simple symbolism allows for identification with the players and the discipline.

The primary colors of the Wisła Kraków AMP Football match kits will be blue and white.

We are excited to co-create Wisła Kraków together!
