Z Historia Wisły
Antoni Szymanowski, born on January 13, 1951, in Tomaszów Mazowiecki, is one of the best players in the history of Polish football. He is an Olympic Champion from 1972, a silver medalist at the 1976 Olympic Games, and took third place in the 1974 World Cup. With Wisła Kraków, he won the Polish Championship in 1978. A youth product of Wisła Kraków, he also played for Gwardia Warsaw (in 1971 as part of military service and again from 1978 to 1981), and ended his football career at the Belgian Club Brugge. He worked as a coach, including for Wisła Kraków's reserve team and Poland's youth national teams. He married Wanda Werbiłowicz, a gymnast from Wisła Kraków.
