The History of the Acrobatics Section

The Sports Acrobatics Section of TS Wisła existed from 1954 to 1962. A year after its formation, the Wisła team won the team championship of Poland, and in 1956, they successfully defended the title.

The stars of the section were Irena Bieniak and Eugeniusz Paul, who captivated Poland with their daring performances, winning national championships in the mixed pairs category for six years.

In addition to them, gold medals in individual competitions were won by: Anna Gałuszka, Krystyna Kubalanka, Ewa Trzecka, Adam Chmielowski, Mieczysław Gabryel, Kazimierz Gadacz, Bogdan Marszałek, Zbigniew Sykta, Stefan Włodek, and Marian Woźniak.

Lidia Szczerbińska, a gymnast and medalist at the Melbourne Olympics, was the vice-champion of Poland in acrobatics.

The achievements of the acrobats did not generate much interest, and the section was disbanded in 1962.
