Z Historia Wisły

Outdoor Pool

The outdoor pool was opened in September 1964 or 1965 (there are discrepancies between sources). It was located between the football stadium and the main hall and was very popular among the residents of Krakow during the summer. In 1976, the construction of a water treatment station for the outdoor pool began. The entire investment was completed two years later (?). In 2010 (?), the pool was closed for financial reasons. Due to weather conditions, the outdoor pool could only operate for a relatively short period throughout the calendar year, which resulted in the club having to subsidize its existence. In 2013, the pool basin was filled in, and a soccer field for the TS Wisła junior academy was established in its place.

Indoor Pool

Wisła had one indoor swimming pool located in the main hall building. It had six swimming lanes, and its length was 25 meters. The depth, depending on the location, ranged from 0.9 meters to 3.60 meters. A grandstand ran along one of the longer sides.

The pool ceased operation at the end of May 2020. The Wisła swimming section will train at the pool being built on Kijowska Avenue. A sauna complex is planned to be built in place of the Wisła pool.

Interesting Fact:

The depth of the pool allowed for training of divers.
